SPL started their EPS business by acquiring a small EPS plant from Shin-Ho Chemicals in 2006 with a capacity of 6000 TPA. With new capacities in Nagothane and expansion in Chennai we now have an installed capacity of 118,000 TPA between the two locations.
Expandable polystyrene (EPS) is spherical polystyrene beads impregnated with pentane as a blowing agent. It provides cost effective protective packaging solutions and energy-efficient insulation.

SPL produces different types of EPS like Fast Cycle (FC) grades, High expansion/ low energy (BL) grades, self-extinguishable (flame retardant) with bead size ranging from 0.4 mm to 2.0 mm.
EPS has been the workhorse in appliance protective packaging for more than 60 years due to its exceptionally high compressive strength for both static and dynamic loads and its ability to withstand repeated impacts. It does not absorb moisture and hence does not become soggy.
EPS foam is durable, strong as well as lightweight and can be used as insulated panel systems for facades, walls, roofs and floors in buildings, as flotation material in the construction of marinas and pontoons and as a lightweight fill in road and railway construction.
EPS also is used in food industry to keep their produce fresh during storage and transit.
EPS is a safe, light weight and 100% recyclable option for appliance packaging & fruits, vegetables, fish and vaccine transportation.

Suitable for high density blocks, mainly used for production of thicker and high strength shape moulded articles with superior surface finish. Manufacture of grape boxes, vegetable boxes, pharmaceutical life-saving drug packaging, etc. Also suitable for geo foam applications for road embankments, podium construction, land filling, etc.

Suitable for higher density blocks, mainly used for production of thicker shape moulded parts with superior surface finish with faster cycle time, suitable for applications where high strength is required, e.g. safety helmets, wine bottles packaging, surfing board, precision moulding. Test tube holders for pharma labs.
Suitable for high density applications and production of smaller parts. Foam beads are used in refractory ceramic bricks, lost foam casting.
