The Plastic Recycling Premier League (PRPL) is more than just a cricket tournament — it’s a movement to empower students and schools to lead the way in plastic waste management. Open to students under 14, PRPL is structured as an inter-school championship that combines environmental education, recycling initiatives, and the excitement of cricket. Here’s how it unfolds:
- School Workshops: PRPL begins with interactive, expert-led workshops in participating schools. These sessions educate students on the environmental impact of plastic waste, the importance of segregation and recycling, and the role they can play in driving change. Students are encouraged to become ambassadors of sustainability in their schools and homes.
- Recycling Challenges: Schools are invited to launch creative in-house programs focused on plastic waste management. Students develop and implement innovative strategies for collecting, sorting, and reducing plastic waste on campus. These challenges build teamwork, leadership, and a deeper sense of environmental responsibility.
- Plastic Collection Drives: Students take the lead in organized plastic collection drives — bringing recyclable plastic from their homes, neighborhoods, and communities. These drives reinforce lessons on responsible disposal while actively involving parents and the wider community, creating a ripple effect of awareness.
- Community Outreach: Going beyond classrooms, students collaborate with PRPL facilitators to organize awareness campaigns in their local areas. From street plays to social media outreach, these efforts aim to engage communities in adopting better recycling habits and promote shared accountability for plastic waste.
- Premiere League Rankings: Throughout the program, schools earn points for their recycling initiatives, plastic collection volume, and outreach activities. Top-ranking schools are recognized and rewarded — and selected teams are invited to compete in the annual PRPL cricket tournament, where sportsmanship meets sustainability on a national stage.
Every effort matters. We believe in celebrating the passion, creativity, and commitment of students and schools working towards a cleaner environment. Participating schools stand to earn exciting rewards and national recognition:
- Trophies and Prizes: Top-performing schools will be honored with trophies, certificates, and exciting prizes. These awards not only recognize excellence in recycling initiatives but also inspire others to join the movement and make a difference.
- Media recognition: Outstanding achievements will be showcased through press releases, local media features, and social media promotions. This spotlight brings well-deserved attention to schools and students, amplifying their impact and spreading awareness to a broader audience.
- Scholarships and Grants: Select students demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to sustainability will be eligible for scholarships and educational grants, empowering them to further their academic journey and continue making a positive impact on society.
Selection Process:
The more your school recycles, the closer you get to the Premier League!
Selection of school teams for the PRPL cricket tournament will be based on their active contribution to plastic waste collection and recycling. Here’s how it works:

- Tracking & Verification: The collection process will be tracked collaboratively by the school coordinators and NGO partners to ensure transparency and accuracy.
